Volleyball Recap: St. John XXIII Has No Trouble Against Alief Elsik

The St. John XXIII Lions made easy work of the Alief Elsik Rams on Tuesday and carried off a 3-0 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Lions.

St. John XXIII's got stronger as the match went on, holding Alief Elsik to fewer and fewer points set over set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-21, 25-15, 25-10.

St. John XXIII found their leader in sophomore Zoe Ramirez, who had 14 digs and one assist. Those 14 digs set a new season-high mark for Ramirez. Jenna Scarborough also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.

St. John XXIII's victory bumped their record up to 10-14. As for Alief Elsik, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-18.

Looking ahead, St. John XXIII is taking a road trip to square off against Lutheran South Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. After both having extra time off, Alief Elsik and Alief Hastings will shake off the rust and duke it out at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. This will be the Rams' first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
