Basketball Recap: Lake View Comes Up Short

Lake View played a tough matchup on Thursday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were beaten by the Butler Lynx 79-20. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 433rd, while the Lynx are ranked 141st).

Despite the loss, Lake View still got an impressive performance from Xochilt Rosales, who posted ten points.

Xyanna Walton was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 29 points and 25 rebounds for Butler. The game was Walton's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Samaiyya Williams, who put up 20 points and five steals.

Lake View's loss dropped their record down to 8-8. As for Butler, they pushed their record up to 18-10 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season.

Lake View does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Butler, they will host Perspectives-IIT/Joslin at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Perspectives-IIT/Joslin's defense has only allowed 27.8 points per game this season, so Butler's offense will have their work cut out for them.
