 Wickenburg fought the good fight in their extra-innings  match against Camp Verde  on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took  a  13-9 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Camp Verde Cowboys. Wickenburg's loss continues an unfortunate trend for the  team, making it three in a row.
  Daisy Smith was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. She  struck out nine batters over  six innings while giving up just two earned  (and five unearned) runs off   11  hits (and not a single walk). Smith has been consistent recently: she hasn't  pitched less than five  innings in four consecutive pitching appearances. Smith was also big at the plate,  scoring two  runs while going 3-for-5.
 In other batting news,  Ariel Sprecher was cooking despite her team's loss,   going 2-for-5 with a  home run, three  RBI,  and a  double. Another player making a difference was  Tylee Buchert, who  scored two  runs and  stole three bases while  getting on base  in three of her five plate appearances.
 Even though they lost, Wickenburg was hitting in the alleys and  finished the game with four  doubles. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Camp Verde only hit a.
 Like Wickenburg, Camp Verde also got a great game from a two-way player:  Aislynn Mulcaire. She looked comfortable on the mound,   striking out nine batters over  5.1 innings while giving up  three earned  (and one unearned) runs off   six  hits. Mulcaire was also solid in the batter's box,  going 2-for-5 with a  home run and two  RBI.
 In other batting news,  the team  relied heavily on  Bristol Bickford, who  scored two  runs and  stole a base while going 3-for-6.  Karleen Moore was another key contributor,  scoring three  runs while  getting on base  in four of her five plate appearances.
 Wickenburg's defeat dropped their record down to 14-8-1. As for Camp Verde, the  win was  the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-5.
 Wickenburg will head out on the road to  take on  Camp Verde at 12:00  p.m.  on Thursday. Camp Verde is strutting in with some hitting muscle, as they've averaged 11.9  runs per game  this season.
