The Pittsfield Panthers will face off against the Epping Blue Devils at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Pittsfield has four straight wins, Epping has four straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
On Wednesday, Pittsfield was able to grind out a solid victory over Nute, taking the game 11-7. That's two games straight that the Panthers have won by exactly four runs.
Alex Penney made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 17 over 6.2 innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than 11 strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Pittsfield let Addison Babcock and Skylar Bedell run wild. Babcock got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base, while Bedell went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Those three runs gave Babcock a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Alivia Lavigne, who went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
Pittsfield always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .595. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Nute only posted an OBP of .290.
Meanwhile, Epping lost 13-1 to Pittsfield on Monday.
Epping's defeat dropped their record down to 7-5. As for Pittsfield, their win bumped their record up to 9-1.
Pittsfield got the 'W' in their previous meeting on Monday against Epping by a conclusive 13-1 score. Do the Panthers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Blue Devils turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
