Preview: Willis Wildkats vs. Cleveland Indians
Willis is 4-0 against Cleveland since November of 2021, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Willis Wildkats will be playing at home against the Cleveland Indians at 7:00 p.m. Willis knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past four games -- so hopefully Cleveland likes a good challenge.
Even though Willis has not done well against Grand Oaks recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Willis came out on top against Grand Oaks by a score of 68-61. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Willis' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jermaine Bishop jr, who scored 17 points along with eight rebounds and five assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Bishop jr has scored all season. Bryce Bass was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with eight rebounds.
Meanwhile, Cleveland's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fourth straight loss. They fell just short of Caney Creek by a score of 52-49. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss Cleveland has suffered yet this season.
Willis is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 17-9 record this season. As for Cleveland, they bumped their record down to 4-22 with that loss, which was their eighth straight at home.
Everything came up roses for Willis against Cleveland when the teams last played back in December of 2023 as the squad secured a 87-53 victory. Does Willis have another victory up their sleeve, or will Cleveland turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
