Baseball Recap: Deep Run Comes Up Short

Deep Run lost a heartbreaker to Godwin when they met back in April of 2025, and they left with a heavy heart again on Thursday. The Wildcats took an 11-6 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Eagles. The Wildcats have struggled against the Eagles recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Jacob Saunders made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 1-for-4 with one home run, four stolen bases, and three runs. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 1.5 stolen bases per game. Connor Slaski also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Deep Run's loss dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Godwin, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-0.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Deep Run will take on Grace Christian School in a tournament on Saturday. The Wildcats' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Kings have averaged an impressive 7.8 runs per game this season. As for Godwin, they will welcome Granby at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
