Baseball Recap: Parkway's Luck Changes for the Better on Monday

Parkway came into Monday's game having lost six straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-6 win over the Wayne Trace Raiders on Monday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Panthers have posted since April 9th.

Carson Kirby spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered five earned (and one unearned) runs on eight hits.

On the hitting side, Parkway let Kolt Harner and Jack Yoder run wild. Harner went a perfect 3-for-3 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI, while Yoder went 3-for-4 with four RBI. Those three hits gave Harner a new career-high. Brayden Bruns was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Parkway kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive contests.

Parkway's win bumped their record up to 6-13. As for Wayne Trace, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 16-8.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Parkway will head out to square off against New Knoxville at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Wayne Trace, they will challenge Antwerp at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
