Softball Recap: McGregor Mercuries vs. East Central Eagles

McGregor was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their tenth straight defeat dating back to last season. They came up short against the East Central Eagles, falling 14-7. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Mercuries of the 16-6 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

Claire Geyen put in work while hitting and pitching. She struck out seven batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and eight unearned) runs off six hits. Geyen was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one double.

In other batting news, Aannung Shabaiash made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole four bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.
