Baseball Recap: Sullivan Wins Going Away Against Clay City

Sullivan barely beat Clay City the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Golden Arrows put the hurt on the Eels with a sharp 10-1 victory on Saturday. That nine run margin sets a new team best for the Golden Arrows this season.

Jaden Norris made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over four innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in May of 2024. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs.

In other batting news, Hunter Mason was excellent, going 2-for-5 with one home run and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in May of 2024. Zane Abbott also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

Sullivan lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

The win made it two in a row for Sullivan and bumps their season record up to 4-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for Clay City, their loss was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Sullivan will welcome Indian Creek at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Braves will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Golden Arrows surely won't give up without a fight. As for Clay City, they will be playing in front of their home fans against North Central at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Eels are facing the Thunderbirds at the right time seeing as the Thunderbirds are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
