Baseball Recap: Flatirons Academy Snags Fourth Victory in Last Five Games

Flatirons Academy's rock-solid pitchers showed up for the team's third consecutive shutout on Saturday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Otis Bulldogs a 13-0 shutout. The Bison might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine contests by nine runs or more this season.

Parker Wilson made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out seven over four innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases he has posted over his last ten matchups.

In other batting news, Flatirons Academy got a massive performance out of Noah Evans, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one double. Another player making a difference was Mateo Pope, who went 1-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.

Flatirons Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .606. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Otis only posted an OBP of .235.

Flatirons Academy is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for Otis, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 13-5.

Coming up, Flatirons Academy will be playing at home against SkyView Academy at 6:15 p.m. on Monday. The Bison's pitchers better be ready for this one: the Hawks have averaged an impressive 9.5 runs per game this season. As for Otis, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 9-7 win against Stratton on the 26th.
