Basketball Recap: Christ Covenant Takes a Loss

Christ Covenant was the 55-49 winner over John Paul II Catholic when they last played one another back in December of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. The Christ Covenant Spartans were dealt a 72-45 loss at the hands of the John Paul II Catholic Saints on Thursday. The Spartans were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 43-20.

Christ Covenant's loss came despite strong showings from JD Dill and Dylan Cook. Dill dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten boards, while Cook posted seven points along with five rebounds and three steals. Those seven points gave Cook a new career-high.

Leading John Paul II Catholic to victory were Latavious 'TT' Moore and Jamal Biggs. Moore almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine boards, while Biggs went 5 for 10 en route to 19 points in addition to five assists and five rebounds. Gabe Lewis was another key player, putting up nine points and eight rebounds.

Christ Covenant has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-10 record this season. As for John Paul II Catholic, their win bumped their record up to 10-6.

Christ Covenant wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 69-31 defeat against Hilltop Christian on the 31st. As for John Paul II Catholic, they have also already played their next contest, a 46-44 victory against Arendell Parrott Academy on the 31st.
