Basketball Recap: Westwood Takes a Loss

Westwood lost against Mountain View back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Westwood Warriors had to suffer through a 75-24 loss at the hands of the Mountain View Toros. While losing is never fun, the Warriors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 201st, while the Toros are ranked 68th).

Mountain View's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Emma Fischbeck, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 11 rebounds. Fischbeck has been hot for a while, having also posted three or more steals the last nine times she's played. Another player making a difference was Roxy Del Bianco, who went 7 for 10 en route to 17 points.

Westwood dropped their record down to 2-13 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight at home. As for Mountain View, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a massive bump to their 11-6 record this season.

Westwood has already played their next match, a 62-32 loss against Mesa on the 20th. As for Mountain View, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 73-40 victory against Skyline on the 20th.
