Basketball Game Preview: Kalama Chinooks vs. Montesano Bulldogs

The Kalama Chinooks will venture away from home to take on the Montesano Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Kalama has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.

Last Thursday, Kalama was able to grind out a solid win over Castle Rock, taking the game 58-46. The victory continues a trend for the Chinooks in their matchups with the Rockets: they've now won three in a row.

It was another big night for Aubrey Doerty, who dropped a triple-double on 21 points, 13 rebounds, and ten steals. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in steals. Another player making a difference was Hannah Johnson, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 boards.

Kalama smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in ten consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Montesano blew past Elma, posting a 62-19 win. The Bulldogs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight matchups by 21 points or more this season.

Montesano is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 15-6 record this season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 36.3 points. As for Kalama, their record is now 12-8.

Kalama lost to Montesano on the road by a decisive 58-44 margin in their previous matchup back in February of 2015. Can Kalama avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
