Baseball Recap: Thursday's Win Is Cheney's Seventh in Last Eight Outings

Cheney had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Conway Springs a 13-0 shutout on Thursday. The result was nothing new for Cheney, who have now won 11 matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Cameron Eastman was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. Eastman was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with three stolen bases and three runs.

In other batting news, Cheney got a massive performance out of Josh Burdick, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two triples, three RBI, and one stolen base. Those four hits gave Burdick a new career-high. AJ Quick was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one home run and four RBI.

Cheney kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in four consecutive contests.

Cheney is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-5 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Conway Springs, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-17.

As of now, neither Cheney nor Conway Springs have any future games scheduled.
