Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Havelock). They put the hurt on the Northside - Jacksonville Monarchs with a sharp 49-24 win on Friday. The team's explosion on offense also rewarded the Rams with their most commanding win of the season.

Havelock's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Kaitlynn Howell, who went 6 of 13 on her way to 13 points and eight boards. Howell is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played. Lanai Brantley was another key player, putting up 12 points and five rebounds.

Havelock smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their offensive rebound total in four consecutive games.

Northside - Jacksonville's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Laila Humphrey, who posted four points in addition to five boards and three blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Anyla Prass, who put up four points and seven rebounds.

Havelock's victory bumped their record up to 4-8. As for Northside - Jacksonville, their defeat was their 16th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 6-4.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Havelock will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against South Central at 6:30 p.m. on January 29th. Northside - Jacksonville will also get a bit of a break before their next contest: they'll face off against D.H. Conley at 6:30 p.m. on January 28th.
