Softball Recap: Vestaburg Comes Up Short

Vestaburg made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Sacred Heart Academy, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Wolverines fell just short of the Irish by a score of 4-2 on Saturday. The Wolverines haven't had much luck with the Irish recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

Addison Neelis spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on six hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in 17 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Vestaburg saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Emma Myers, who went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Vestaburg's defeat dropped their record down to 25-6. As for Sacred Heart Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-5 record this season.

While Vestaburg had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
