Shelby-Rising City found their leader in underclassman Carter Eickmeier, who rushed for 244 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 12.2 yards per carry. Eickmeier's longest rush was for an incredible 73 yards. Jett Vrbka was another key player, rushing for 58 yards and a touchdown on only five carries.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Shelby-Rising City was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 443 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.
Despite the loss, Centennial saw an underclassman step up: Kade McFadden picked up 127 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Those 127 receiving yards set a new season-high mark for McFadden.
The win (which was Shelby-Rising City's fourth in a row) raised their record to 5-1. As for Centennial, their record is now 2-4.
Shelby-Rising City wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 52-6 victory against Mead on the 11th. Centennial has also already played their next matchup, a 58-34 defeat against McCool Junction on the 11th.
