Volleyball Recap: Padua Franciscan Comes Up Short

Padua Franciscan was the 3-0 winner over Elyria Catholic when they last played one another back in September, but their luck changed this time around. The Bruins lost 3-0 to the Panthers on Tuesday. The Bruins have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back matches.

While Padua Franciscan was not able to make it on the board, they still kept things close, especially in the third set. The final score came out to 25-20, 25-17, 25-22.

Despite the loss, Padua Franciscan saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Giulia Reginelli had 14 digs and six assists. Reginelli has been hot, having posted ten or more digs the last five times she's played.

Elyria Catholic found their leader in freshman Ava Notarberardino, who had 13 digs and two assists.

Padua Franciscan's defeat dropped their record down to 14-7. As for Elyria Catholic, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-2 record this season.

Padua Franciscan has already played their next match, a 3-0 victory against Holy Name on the 9th. As for Elyria Catholic, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 3-0 win against Beaumont School on the 9th.
