Basketball Recap: Glades Central Now 9-1 over Last Ten Games

Glades Central won the last time they faced Pahokee and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Glades Central Raiders strolled past the Pahokee Blue Devils with points to spare, taking the game 74-56. Given the Raiders' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 145th, while the Blue Devils are ranked 593rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Glades Central to victory, but perhaps none more so than De'Marques Brown, who went 6 of 11 en route to 17 points and five assists. Dennis Hobbs also deserves some recognition as he pulled down his first rebound of the season.

Brown wasn't the only one working in the assists department: Glades Central was working as a unit and finished the game with 20 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Despite the defeat, Pahokee saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Ja'Tahj Dowdell posted 12 points. Another player making a difference was Kanyon Burton, who scored seven points.

Glades Central is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 11-3 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.7 points per game. As for Pahokee, their loss dropped their record down to 3-6.

Glades Central has already played their next contest, a 51-32 victory against Moore Haven on the 17th. As for Pahokee, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 35-29 defeat against Atlantic Christian on the 16th.
