Baseball Recap: Wagner Comes Up Short

Wagner was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat dating back to last season. They came up short against the Jourdanton Indians/Squaws, falling 12-5. The Thunderbirds were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Indians/Squaws apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in March of 2024.

Erick Martinez and Kason Kallies stepped up to the plate in a big way. Martinez went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI, while Kallies went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Jayden Lugo, who earned one run and two stolen bases.

Wagner's defeat dropped their record down to 0-3.

Wagner didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 6-4 loss against Harlandale on the 6th. As for Jourdanton, they will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Cotulla at 12:00 p.m. on the 16th.
