Preview: West Columbus Vikings vs. South Columbus Stallions
West Columbus is 8-2 against South Columbus since January of 2020, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The West Columbus Vikings will head out on the road to take on the South Columbus Stallions at 7:30 p.m. West Columbus is looking to tack on another W to their four-game streak on the road.
Even though East Bladen scored an imposing 58 points on Tuesday, West Columbus still came out on top. West Columbus took down East Bladen 72-58.
West Columbus found their leader in underclassman Larry Graham, who scored 19 points along with seven steals and five rebounds. Jaylen Bellamy was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with three steals.
Meanwhile, after a string of four wins, South Columbus' good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They took a 75-60 bruising from Heide Trask. While losing is never fun, South Columbus can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 351st, while Heide Trask is ranked 154th).
West Columbus has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season. As for South Columbus, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-10.
West Columbus was able to grind out a solid win over South Columbus in their previous meeting back in January, winning 63-54. The rematch might be a little tougher for West Columbus since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
