Preview: North Marion Huskies vs. Philomath Warriors
After two games on the road, North Marion is heading back home. They will take on the Philomath Warriors at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
North Marion posted their biggest win since December 12, 2023 on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 57-36 margin over Stayton. Given North Marion's advantage in MaxPreps' Oregon basketball rankings (they are ranked 29th, while Stayton is ranked 123rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Philomath entered their tilt with Newport with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. Everything went Philomath's way against Newport on Friday as Philomath made off with a 57-33 win. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win Philomath has posted against Newport since June 1, 2021.
North Marion pushed their record up to 11-4 with that victory, which was their eighth straight on the road. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 73.4 points per game. As for Philomath, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-3 record this season.
North Marion and Philomath were neck-and-neck in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, but North Marion came up empty-handed after a 53-52 loss. Can North Marion avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
