Basketball Recap: Isiah Rodriguez's Big Game Can't Quite Lead La Veta over Centennial

La Veta lost against Centennial last Saturday and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The La Veta Redhawks fell just short of the Centennial Rams by a score of 45-42. The match marked the Redhawks' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Several Redhawks players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Isiah Rodriguez, who posted 14 points in addition to five rebounds and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Tristan Musgrave, who had five points along with 14 rebounds and five blocks.

Centennial's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Zach Jacquez, who put up 16 points in addition to six assists and six boards. The dominant performance also gave Jacquez a new career-high in blocks (two). Another player making a difference was Jose Molina, who posted 12 points and seven steals.

La Veta now has a losing record at 2-3. As for Centennial, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

La Veta didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 56-12 victory against Antonito on the 20th. As for Centennial, they will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Cotopaxi at 6:30 p.m. on January 10, 2025.
