Medina took a three-set defeat the last time they faced off against Copley, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Battling Bees came out on top in a nail-biter against the Indians on Wednesday, sneaking past 3-2. Winning may never get old, but the Battling Bees sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.
Medina was staring down a 2-1 deficit headed into the fourth set, but they rallied to take the next two for the win. The final score came out to 25-20, 12-25, 22-25, 25-20, 25-13.
Kate Schellenberger paced Medina's offense, picking up 16 kills. Schellenberger got some help from Lauren Sherman and her 45 assists. Oliva Fedor controlled things from the service line, finishing with five aces.
Despite the loss, Copley had strong showings from Jayli Owens, who had 28 digs and one assist, and Meryn Stacy, who had 23 digs, six kills, and one block. Stacy has been hot, having posted six or more kills the last seven times she's played.
Medina's win bumped their record up to 10-8. As for Copley, their record is now 12-7.
Looking ahead, Medina will square off against Cleveland Heights at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Copley, they have already played their next matchup, a 3-0 victory against Cuyahoga Falls on the 2nd.
