Baseball Recap: Jackson Academy Raiders vs. St. Joseph Catholic Bruins

Jackson Academy was the 13-8 winner over St. Joseph Catholic when they last played one another on Thursday, but their luck changed this time around. The Raiders fell 5-2 to the Bruins on Thursday. Having soared to a lofty 13 runs in the game before, the Raiders couldn't push the score so high this time.

Deuce Jenkins put in work while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Furthermore, he didn't allow a single earned run, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in March. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Jackson Academy got a massive performance out of Justin Word, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Landyn Baker also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

Jackson Academy's loss dropped their record down to 17-10. As for St. Joseph Catholic, their win ended an eight-game drought at home and bumped them up to 10-16.
