Softball Game Preview: Quakertown Panthers vs. Abington Galloping Ghosts

Quakertown is a perfect 8-0 against Abington since April of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Panthers will be playing at home against the Galloping Ghosts at 3:45 p.m. The timing is sure in Quakertown's favor as the team sits on 16 straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while Abington has been banged up by four consecutive losses on the road also dating back to last season.

Last Thursday, Quakertown beat Wissahickon 9-6.

Ava Zebert spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered six earned runs on eight hits and racked up eight Ks. Those eight strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Leah Schwalm, who went 3-for-4 with five RBI and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. Kira Jefferson was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4.

Quakertown hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Wissahickon struck out eight times.

Meanwhile, Thursday just wasn't the day for Abington's offense. They came up short against Plymouth Whitemarsh on Thursday, falling 13-0. The game marked the first time this year in which the Galloping Ghosts were not able to get on the board.

Abington's loss dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Quakertown, their win ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-3.

Quakertown beat Abington 6-1 in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Do the Panthers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Galloping Ghosts turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
