Softball Recap: Borrego Springs Gets the Win

Borrego Springs's game last Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Wednesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 16-15 win over the Vincent Memorial Scots. This was a revenge game for the Rams: when they faced off against the Scots back in March, they had to take a 11-10 defeat.

Kayla Rodriguez was a standout: she went 2-for-5 with one home run, one stolen base, and two RBI. She has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last eight times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Lylamae Gutierrez, who got on base in three of her eight plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and one double.

Borrego Springs' victory was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 6-10. As for Vincent Memorial, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-5.

Borrego Springs will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Scots: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 2:00 p.m. on Friday.
