Preview: First Flight Nighthawks vs. Northeastern Eagles
After three games on the road, First Flight is heading back home. They will take on the Northeastern Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. First Flight knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past seven matches -- so hopefully Northeastern likes a good challenge.
Even though Pasquotank County scored an imposing 61 points on Friday, First Flight still came out on top. First Flight walked away with a 74-61 win over Pasquotank County.
First Flight's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Burke Powers, who scored 18 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Powers has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Mason Dobie, who scored 15 points.
Meanwhile, Northeastern earned a 58-51 win over Currituck County on Friday. The win made it back-to-back wins for Northeastern.
Northeastern's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Sayvion Saunders, who scored 15 points. Another player making a difference was Jakeel Stallings, who scored 16 points.
First Flight has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 7-9 record this season. As for Northeastern, their win bumped their record up to 8-6.
First Flight was taken down by Northeastern 82-46 in their previous matchup back in December of 2023. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Northeastern's Tyell Saunders, who scored 22 points along with six assists and five rebounds.
