Junior guard led Wheeling Park to Class 4A state championship.

Each year since 2006, MaxPreps has recognized outstanding performers in prep girls basketball. America's source for high school sports continues the tradition to close out the 2023-24 season by naming the top player in each state. Selections are based on team success and individual excellence in addition to local and state accolades.

Alexis Bordas of Wheeling Park (Wheeling) is the 2023-24 West Virginia MaxPreps Player of the Year for the second straight season. The 5-foot-8 junior guard led the Patriots to a 25-4 record and Class 4A state championship.

For the season, Bordas averaged 24.0 points, 5.8 rebounds, 2.4 steals and 2.2 assists per game. She went for a season-high 38 points in a 63-56 state semifinal win over Huntington on the way to tournament MVP honors.

She has received multiple Division I scholarship offers but remains uncommitted.
