Baseball Recap: Liberty Wins Going Away Against Westminster Christian

Liberty never got on the board in their matchup last Monday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Westminster Christian on Wednesday. They were the clear victors by a 13-3 margin over the Warriors. That ten run margin sets a new team best for the Patriots this season.

Grayden Baker looked comfortable as he tossed 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Furthermore, he didn't allow a single walk, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in February.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Jaydrien Klein-Baker, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Grant Kelly was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-3.

Liberty has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. Westminster Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 9-7-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Liberty will venture away from home to square off against Virgin Valley at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Liberty is facing Virgin Valley at the right time seeing as Virgin Valley is stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Westminster Christian, they will square off against Basic at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Westminster Christian's pitchers better be ready for this one: Basic has averaged an impressive 6.4 runs per game this season.
