Basketball Recap: Roosevelt's Victory on Tuesday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Roosevelt had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 24.5 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They snuck past the Greeley Central Wildcats with a 59-53 win. Given the Roughriders' advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 135th, while the Wildcats are ranked 281st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Roosevelt to victory, but perhaps none more so than Brooks Reckard, who went 5 of 8 en route to 12 points along with seven rebounds and five steals. Reckard is becoming a predictor of Roosevelt's success: when he posts at least three steals the team is undefeated (and 1-3 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Nolan Peterson, who posted 21 points in addition to five boards and four blocks.

Roosevelt smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their offensive board total in four consecutive matchups.

Roosevelt's record now sits at 7-3. As for Greeley Central, they dropped their record down to 1-6 with the defeat, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season.

Roosevelt will face off against Mountain View at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Greeley Central, they will take on Wellington at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
