Softball Recap: Gaither Takes a Loss

Gaither lost to Newsome back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Cowboys took a 6-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Wolves. The Cowboys have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Kendal Jackson spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and three unearned) runs on five hits.

At the plate, Gaither saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lacey Giunta-Heuss, who went 1-for-3 with one run.

Gaither now has a losing record of 3-4. As for Newsome, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 7-1.

Coming up, Gaither will face off against Alonso at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Cowboys' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Ravens have averaged an impressive 8 runs per game this season. As for Newsome, they will square off against Auburndale at 3:00 p.m. on Friday.
