Softball Recap: Glastonbury Drops Highest Score of Season Against East Catholic

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Glastonbury). They put the hurt on the East Catholic Eagles with a sharp 22-14 victory on Friday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Guardians considering their two-run performance the matchup before.

Brooke Schlenger was a standout: she got on base in all four of her plate appearances with four runs, four RBI, and one stolen base. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Sylvia Lewis was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI, two runs, and two doubles.

Glastonbury always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .750. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Glastonbury now has a winning record of 10-9. As for East Catholic, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-11 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Glastonbury will host Enfield at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Guardians' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Eagles have averaged an impressive 7.9 runs per game this season. As for East Catholic, they will be playing at home against Northwest Catholic at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
