Basketball Recap: J.H. Rose Comes Up Short

J.H. Rose and Fike squared off in some playoff action on Tuesday, but J.H. Rose had to settle for second. They were beaten by the Fike Demons 80-45. The Rampants' defeat continues a trend for the squad, making it five in a row.

Despite the loss, J.H. Rose saw an underclassman step up: freshman Kahrin Highsmith dropped a double-double with 14 points and 14 boards. Those 14 rebounds gave Highsmith a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Amarriah Brown, who posted nine points and three steals.

Jamaria Freeman was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double with 34 points and 11 steals for Fike. Freeman's big performance that evening made it 20 games in a row in which she has scored at least 18 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jewel Brewington, who went 8-for-14 to rack up 23 points and four steals.

J.H. Rose's defeat dropped their record down to 6-17. As for Fike, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 25-0.

J.H. Rose does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Fike, they have already played their next matchup, a 49-35 win against Westover on the 28th.
