AAA Region 5 recap Oct. 23, 2012
Cartersville extended the longest winning streak in AAA Region 5 this week by beating Gordon Central, 41-19. The victory was the seventh in a row for the team.
Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe took down Coahulla Creek 43-14 last week, the largest margin of any game.
MJ Reynolds and MJ Reynolds gave the Warriors a balanced attack through the air and ground last week. Reynolds threw for 256 yards and two touchdowns, while Reynolds ran for 81 yards.
Erick Dominguez was the best wideout in the league this week as the Colts lost to the Warriors. Dominguez racked up seven receptions for 119 yards. Levi Wilson helped Coahulla Creek's passing attack out by catching four balls for 86 yards.
Gordon Central's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Warriors feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Reynolds has thrown for 1566 yards and 21 touchdowns this season, while Chandler Curtis has 16 catches for 391 yards. Reynolds also leads the league in rushing with 312 yards.
A big matchup in AAA Region 5 this week will be when Adairsville takes on Cartersville. The Tigers are in fourth place, while the Hurricanes are in first place.
Adairsville led the league in scoring this week after putting up 49 points on Sonoraville.
