Recap: South Loup vs. Bertrand Vikings
South Loup were the 47-34 winner over the Bertrand Vikings when they last played one another back in January of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. South Loup opened the new year with a less-than-successful 29-24 defeat to they on Saturday. They just can't catch a break and have now endured three defeats in a row.
When it comes to explaining why South Loup lost, one person who can't be blamed is Bryn Schwarz. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 21 points and 14 rebounds. The matchup was Schwarz's sixth in a row with at least ten points.
Bertrand found their leader in underclassman Shelby Schoene , who scored seven points. Schoene set a new season high mark in blocks with two.
South Loup has been struggling recently, as they've lost six of their last seven matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-8 record this season. As for Bertrand, their win bumped their record up to 4-6.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. South Loup's road trip will continue as they head out to face Maxwell at 6:00 p.m. on January 12th. As for Bertrand, they will challenge Southwest on Friday. Hopefully Southwest focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 on Saturday.
