Softball Recap: Northwest Comes Up Short

If Northwest was feeling good fresh off their 9-2 takedown of Napoleon on Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Mounties fell 7-4 to the Pinckney Pirates on Thursday. The Mounties were not able to make up for their loss to the Pirates from their previous meeting back in May of 2023.

Ava Golightly (2025) made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with four stolen bases and one run. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last 12 games she's played. Another player making a difference was Shannon Christner (2028), who went 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Northwest dropped their record down to 19-10 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road. As for Pinckney, their victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 22-13-1.

Coming up, Northwest will square off against Grass Lake at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Pinckney does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
