Soccer Game Preview: Pioneer vs. Wood

The Pioneer Patriots will square off against the Wood Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Pioneer headed into their last game having not scored more than one goal for three straight, but Winters let them put that streak behind them. Pioneer walked away with a 4-2 win over Winters back in December of 2024. It was an even better day for Mario Uribe as he scored three goals for his team.

Meanwhile, Wood kept a clean sheet against Sonoma Valley last Monday. They came out on top against the Dragons by a score of 2-0. That two goal margin sets a new team best for the Wildcats this season.

Wood's victory bumped their record up to 3-4-1. As for Pioneer, the win got them back to even at 2-2-1.

Everything went Pioneer's way against Wood in their previous meeting back in November of 2023, as Pioneer made off with a 6-0 victory. Will Pioneer repeat their success, or does Wood have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
