Softball Recap: Harrison Wins Going Away Against Byram Hills

Harrison had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 19-run drubbing they dealt Byram Hills on Tuesday. The Huskies blew past the Bobcats 20-1. The Huskies might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matches by nine runs or more this season.

Fionnuala Rallis was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Rallis was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in May of 2024.

In other batting news, BarBara Jo Coppola was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Gia Pinilla, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base.

Harrison was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .654. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive contests.

Harrison's victory bumped their record up to 8-2. As for Byram Hills, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 2-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Harrison will head out to face off against Eastchester at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Huskies 3.9, the Eagles 4) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Byram Hills, they will take on Pelham Memorial at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
