Mountain Iron-Buhl had lost three games straight , but after bumping their record up to 3-4 on Thursday that streak is in the rearview. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-3 victory over the North Woods grizzlies. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Rangers have posted since April 22, 2024.

As for North Woods, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 2-3. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the defeats came by an average of only 1.33 runs.

For North Woods' part, Addison Burckhardt was huge no matter where she played even without the win. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off seven hits (and only one walk). Burckhardt was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and one double. That double was her first of the season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mountain Iron-Buhl will face off against Mesabi East at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for North Woods, they will take on South Ridge at 4:30 p.m. on May 2.
