Basketball Recap: Lighthouse Christian Extends Home Winning Streak to Eight

Lighthouse Christian came tearing into Tuesday's contest with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 24 points) and they left with even more momentum. They enjoyed a cozy 55-36 win over the Zion Christian Academy Eagles. For the Lions , this counts as revenge for the 81-46 victory the Eagles walked away with the last time they faced one another back in February of 2023.

Lighthouse Christian's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kolby Matthews led the charge by going 6 of 11 on his way to 13 points and seven boards. Matthews is also on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 45% in the last four games he's played. Lucas Haymer was another key player, dropping a double-double with 11 points and ten rebounds.

Lighthouse Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in eight consecutive matches.

Lighthouse Christian's win was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-4. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.4 points over those games. As for Zion Christian Academy, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games, which has put a noticeable dent in their 14-13 record this season.
