Baseball Recap: Desert Vista Comes Up Short in High-Profile Matchup with Mountain View

Desert Vista faced Mountain View in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Thunder fell 6-2 to the Toros. The Thunder were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Toros earlier this season, when they won 19-5.

Brock MacDonald was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out nine batters over 6.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off seven hits (and only one walk). What's more, he gave up only one walk, the fewest he's had since back in March.

On the hitting side, Jayden Garrison was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

Desert Vista's loss dropped their record down to 18-10. As for Mountain View, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 18-11 record this season.

Desert Vista will take on Liberty in a tournament on Tuesday. As for Mountain View, they will square off against Hamilton at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Toros' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Huskies have averaged an impressive 7.4 runs per game this season.
