Basketball Recap: Blue Valley Northwest Huskies vs. Bishop Miege Stags

After flying high against Lee's Summit last Wednesday, Blue Valley Northwest came back down to earth. The Blue Valley Northwest Huskies fell 46-36 to the Bishop Miege Stags on Tuesday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Huskies of the 47-40 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in February of 2024.

Bishop Miege was led to victory by Mary Grant and Kirston Verhulst. Grant went 9 for 15 on her way to 23 points, while Verhulst posted 16 points and eight rebounds. What's more, Verhulst also posted a 67% three-point shooting accuracy, which is the highest she's posted since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was Jayla McClinton, who had four points and seven blocks.

Blue Valley Northwest's defeat dropped their record down to 8-7. As for Bishop Miege, they have been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Blue Valley Northwest will host Blue Valley West at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Bishop Miege, they will welcome Blue Valley Southwest at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Blue Valley Southwest has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
