Baseball Recap: Nanih Waiya Has No Trouble Against Velma Jackson

Nanih Waiya had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 17-run drubbing they dealt Velma Jackson on Tuesday. The Warriors blew past the Falcons 18-1. Considering the Warriors have won seven contests by more than seven runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Kade Massey made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Nanih Waiya is 4-2 when he allows at most one earned run, but 6-8 otherwise. Massey was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-2.

In other batting news, Caysen Dewberry was a standout: he scored two runs and stole three bases while going 1-for-2. Nanih Waiya is 7-3 when Dewberry posts two or more runs, but 3-7 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Dillan Starnes, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Nanih Waiya hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are 3-1 when they post two or more strikeouts.

The victory got Nanih Waiya back to even at 10-10. As for Velma Jackson, their loss dropped their record down to 2-8.

Looking ahead, Nanih Waiya will challenge Columbus at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Velma Jackson will be paying especially close attention to the Warriors' match: after the Warriors faces off against the Falcons, they'll take on Velma Jackson again at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
