Volleyball Recap: Weir Red Riders vs. Wheeling Park Patriots

Weir extended their losing streak to four on Tuesday, dropping them down to 6-17-1. They came up short against the Wheeling Park Patriots, falling 3-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Patriots this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-0 back in August.

Ella Kaufman paced Weir's offense, picking up nine kills. Kaufman got some help from Amalia Kirlangitis and her 14 assists. Gabby Sprouse and Illionna Kirlangitis kept things locked in from the service line: the pair finished with two aces apiece.

As for Wheeling Park, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 8-13-1. They not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since September 15th (when they won 3-0).

Leading Wheeling Park to victory were Rowan Gillespie and Marissa Hunley. Gillespie had 12 digs and six aces, while Hunley had 14 digs and three assists. That's the most digs Gillespie has posted over her last six contests. Andrea Lowe also deserves some recognition as she had her first kill of the season.

Looking ahead, Weir will be playing at home against Brooke at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Wheeling Park, they will head out on the road to square off against Cameron at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
