Football Game Preview: Brandeis Broncos vs. Reagan Rattlers

Brandeis is 0-5 against Reagan since December of 2020 but things could change on Thursday. The Broncos will be playing at home against the Rattlers at 7:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Brandeis is headed into the game after thoroughly thrashing SA Roosevelt: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Broncos blew the Rough Riders out of the water with a 55-20 final score. Winning may never get old, but the Broncos sure are getting used to it with their fifth in a row.

Jaron Morris was his usual excellent self, rushing for 356 yards and five scores while picking up 16.2 yards per carry. Those five rushing touchdowns gave him a new career-high.

Morris was just one part of a punishing run game: Brandeis was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 550 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Reagan gave up the first points on Friday, but they didn't give up any more after. They put the hurt on Clark with a sharp 38-14 win. The victory continues a trend for the Rattlers in their matchups with the Cougars: they've now won six in a row.

Brandeis' win bumped their record up to 7-2. As for Reagan, they now have a winning record of 5-4.

Thursday's contest might be decided on the ground. Brandeis has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 308.9 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Reagan struggles in that department as they've been averaging 255.8 rushing yards. There's a good chance Thursday's matchup turns into a tough fight on the ground.

Brandeis was dealt a bruising 42-13 defeat at the hands of Reagan in their previous meeting back in November of 2024. Thankfully for the Broncos, Caleb Cappuccio (who rushed for 87 yards and a pair of TDs on only seven carries, and also threw for 104 yards and one touchdown on perfect 9-for-9 passing) won't be suiting up this time.
