Softball Recap: Stonington Bears vs. St. Bernard Saints

Stonington was the 6-1 winner over St. Bernard when they last played one another last Monday, but their luck changed this time around. The Stonington Bears took a 6-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the St. Bernard Saints on Wednesday. Stonington has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

For St. Bernard's part, Katy Scribner spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on six hits. Scribner has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive pitching appearances.

On the hitting side, St. Bernard's victory was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Anabelle Wenzel, who scored a run while going 1-for-3. Aubree Nygaard was another key contributor, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

Stonington's loss dropped their record down to 15-5. As for St. Bernard, they now have a winning record of 11-10.
