Softball Recap: Cedar Beats Cyprus for Their Fifth Straight Win

Cedar took a seven-run defeat the last time they faced off against Cyprus, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Cedar Reds won by a run and slipped past the Cyprus Pirates 4-3. The victory was familiar territory for the Reds, who have now won five matches in a row.

Sadie Parson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on eight hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Kinzie Hawkins, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024. Elicia Garcia also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Cedar was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cyprus only posted a batting average of .276.

Cedar's win bumped their record up to 5-2. As for Cyprus, their loss dropped their record down to 4-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cedar will face off against Hurricane at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Cedar is facing Hurricane at the right time seeing as Hurricane is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Cyprus, they will take on Hunter at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Cyprus' pitching crew has only allowed 3.5 runs per game this season, so Hunter's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
