Softball Recap: Tuesday's Win Is Tomball Memorial's Sixth in Last Eight Outings

It was a proper cat-fight when Tomball Memorial took on Klein Oak on Tuesday. The Wildcats walked away with a 5-2 victory over the Panthers. The game was the first time the Wildcats have beaten the Panthers on their field since April 18, 2023.

Emma Coombs spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on five hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Tomball Memorial saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lauren Coombs, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. Those three hits gave Coombs a new career-high. Another was Alyzza Salinas, who scored two runs while going 1-for-2.

Tomball Memorial has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-10-1 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. As for Klein Oak, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 16-10.

Tomball Memorial does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Klein Oak, they will face off against The Woodlands Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
