The C.B. Aycock Golden Falcons will venture away from home to challenge the Southern Wayne Saints at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
C.B. Aycock took a loss when they played away from home on Wednesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Smithfield-Selma a 10-0 shutout. The victory continues a trend for the Golden Falcons in their matchups with the Spartans: they've now won seven in a row.

Ty Swenson made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out six over four innings pitched. Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.
In other batting news, Janeson Steele was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. That triple was his first of the season. Landon Davis was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-1.
C.B. Aycock hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Smithfield-Selma struck out eight times.
Meanwhile, Southern Wayne posted their closest win since April 30, 2024 on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Fike, sneaking past 11-10. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Saints.
The team relied heavily on Tyler Odom, who scored three runs while going 1-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Mason McKee, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.
C.B. Aycock's record now sits at 4-8. As for Southern Wayne, their record now sits at 4-7.
C.B. Aycock suffered a grim 11-3 defeat to Southern Wayne in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Can C.B. Aycock avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
